Sir Alex Ferguson was critical of Ruud after he has failed to convert a penalty kick against Middlesborough.

In a race for the runners-up spot for automatic qualification for the Champions League, United must now beat Charlton this Sunday.

Ferguson was reported saying : "It was disappointing because we expected Ruud to score."

"But it was not a good penalty. He has missed probably half a dozen in total and that was a bad one."

Fergie's criticism came as a surprise for many Ruud van Nistelrooy fans as Sir Alex seldom criticise players in public.

This outburst will definitely create more rumours of Ruud leaving United.
