Ruud van Nistelrooy expects to return to Old Trafford after the World Cup.

Ruud told The Sun: "I don't know what has gone wrong.

"I have two years left on my contract and, unless anybody tells me differently, I will return to Manchester for pre-season training."

Meanwhile, there are reports suggesting Holland coach Marco van Basten will drop van Nistelrooy for Sunday's clash with Portugal.

Van Basten was unhappy with Ruud's performance in the goalless draw with Argentina on Wednesday.
