Real Madrid's new coach Fabio Capello has confirmed his interest for Ruud.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson revealed on Friday that Ruud had asked to leave Old Trafford.

New Real coach Capello has now admitted his interest for Ruud and believes he has the credentials to be a big success at the Bernabeu.

"Van Nistelrooy is a footballer who has succeeded at all the clubs he has played for," Capello told As.

"He has scored a pile of goals.

"He is a forward who can succeed in Madrid."

Reports have also claimed that Real's sporting director Predrag Mijatovic was in England on Friday to try to broker a deal for van Nistelrooy.
