Ruud van Nistelrooy has been left out of the Holland suqad by coach Marco van Basten for next Wednesday’s friendly with the Republic of Ireland in Dublin.
Ruud was left out of the starting line-up for the World Cup last-16 match with Portugal which saw the Dutch eliminated.
He was in the training squad named for the Republic match but did not make the selection.
Wigan’s new midfielder Denny Landzaat has been included along with Ajax's Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, who was overlooked for the World Cup.
"At the moment we think other players are better," said Van Basten.
"We want to go on with the selected group because we have more trust in those players."
