Kiev 2 - 2 Real Madrid
Thursday, November 07, 2006
Dynamo Kiev went one up after thirteen minutes as Maksim Shatskikh beat his market to convert a Valentin Belkevich pass.
Fourteen minutes later, the striker was again successful. This time he was allowed to break through Madrid's defense and shoot on goal. Casillas initially saved but Shatskikh's second attempt went in for 2-0.
Madrid came close to getting one back in the 53rd minute but David Beckham's strike hit Dynamo's left post.
With four minutes left, the Spaniards did score. Brazilian forward Ronaldo showed what he is still capable of and netted from a Beckham corner kick which had been flicked on by a teammate.
And a minute later, the striker was brought down by Rodrigo in the penalty area and converted the following spotkick himself to earn his team a draw.
Real were happy with this result and Dynamo had no energy to do anything back. The Ukranians end this European campaign with a sense of disappointment while Ronaldo and Real Madrid will be confident ahead of the second round.
