Ruud rescues point for Real

Real Madrid missed the opportunity to improve their fading title hopes when they were held to a 1-1 draw by local rivals Getafe at the Bernabeu on Sunday.

The visitors led in the 38th minute when Daniel Guiza netted but Ruud van Nistelrooy ensured the points would be shared when he equalised just before the interval.

Fifth-placed Real Zaragoza are only two points behind Real Madrid after coming from behind to beat Real Sociedad 3-2.
