Ruud set for Euro 2008 matches
Friday, August 31, 2007
Ruud van Nistelrooy is set for his first match of the Euro 2008 qualifying campaign after being named by coach Marco van Basten for games against Bulgaria and Albania next month.
There are also places in the 25-man squad for Andre Ooijer and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, both of whom missed the friendly match against Switzerland earlier this month, while van Basten has opted to leave out Arjen Robben, Tim de Cler, Boy Waterman and Hedwiges Maduro.
Robben, who recently completed a move to Spanish champions Real Madrid from Chelsea, is still not match fit as he bids to recover from a knee injury.
Van Nistelrooy only made his return to the team during the friendly in Geneva - his first game in the orange jersey since the 2006 World Cup - after a well-documented fall-out with van Basten.
