Ruud rested against Getafe

Ruud van Nistelrooy has been rested for the Spanish champions' Primera Liga match against Getafe on Sunday.

Coach Bernd Schuster opted to exclude the Dutch frontman in order to have him fresh for the UEFA Champions League clash against Lazio on Wednesday.

Gonzalo Higuain was also rested while Michel Salgado and Roberto Soldado weren't included in the squad for technical reasons, according to the club's official website.

"Naturally, tomorrow's lineup will be the determined by the game with Lazio because it will take place only three days after tomorrow's fixture," Schuster told the pre-match press conference.
