Real Madrid remain top of the Primera Liga table after a thrilling 4-3 victory over Mallorca in the Santiago Bernabeu.
Two goals from Robinho, one from Raul and a crucial late strike from Ruud van Nistelrooy were just enough to see off the Islanders, for whom Fernando Varela (2) and Daniel Guiza were on the scoresheet.
Villarreal are just a point behind Real after a 3-2 home win over Sevilla, with Matias Fernandez tucking home a decisive penalty four minutes from time.
A last-gasp own goal gave Espanyol a 2-1 victory over Athletic Bilbao in the Lluis Companys, while Atletico Madrid were held to a goalless draw at Almeria.
Racing Santander won 1-0 at Deportivo La Coruna thanks to Mohammed Tchite's second-half strike, but Real Zaragoza suffered a shock 2-1 reverse at lowly Real Betis.
Levante remain rooted to the foot of the table after losing 1-0 at Valladolid, while Recreativo Huelva secured a crucial 1-0 win over Osasuna - Carlos Martins netting the only goal of the game 20 minutes from time.
