Double celebration for Ruud's Real
Monday, December 17, 2007
Real Madrid returned their Spanish league lead to four points ahead of next weekend's showdown with Barcelona, beating Osasuna 2-0 at home on Sunday night.
Ruud van Nistelrooy scored in his 50th league outing for Spanish champions Real.
Holland internationals Ruud van Nistelrooy and Wesley Sneijder scored in either half as Real celebrated the 60th anniversary of their Santiago Bernabeu stadium in fine style.
The visitors almost took a shock lead when Migel Flano headed against the post, but Van Nistelrooy opened the scoring in the 15th minute with his eighth league goal this season as he nodded home Sneijder's free-kick.
The striker marked his 50th Primera Liga appearance with his 33rd goal since signing from Manchester United.
Robinho showed some silky skills to help set up Sneijder on 75 minutes to seal victory ahead of Wednesday's Copa del Rey clash with Alicante and then the 'El Classico' trip to the Nou Camp on Sunday.
