Ruud out of Dutch friendly

Ruud van Nistelrooy will miss his country's friendly international against Croatia on Wednesday after injuring his ankle in Saturday's loss to Almeria, the club said Sunday.

Van Nistelrooy, top scorer for the Liga leaders with 12 this season, is currently on crutches after receiving a kick during the loss which stopped Real going 12 points clear.

Real said on their website that Van Nistelrooy "will not be able to link up with the Dutch squad and will stay in Madrid to rest."
