Ruud returns to Spain for rehab

Ruud van Nistelrooy has returned to Spain to begin his rehabilitation program following knee surgery in November.

The Dutch striker will miss the rest of the season after damaging knee ligaments two months ago and had been convalescing in his native Netherlands.

But this week he has returned to Madrid's Valdebebas training ground to begin his rehabilitation work which will involve physiotherapy in the swimming pool and a targeted gym regime to strengthen the muscles around the knee.

The 32-year-old is expected to be fully-fit for the start of the next campaign."
